Questions

What's the dress code?+

For the ceremony and lunch reception, the suggested dress code is semi-formal, inspired by a Soft Spring palette — gentle pastels, warm peach and apricot tones, soft greens, and airy blues. Following the colors is completely optional; please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. We recommend comfortable shoes — there isn't much walking, but you will need to cross the street between venues, and there is some movement around the lunch buffet. Choose outfits you can relax and enjoy eating in. For all other events, come as you are — no dress code at all. If you're interested in trying something uniquely Kyoto, you're warmly welcome to rent a kimono from a nearby shop and wear it to any of the events. Many guests enjoy the experience, and shops in the area offer short-time rentals and dressing services.

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?+

Indoors, at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art.

What language will the ceremony be in?+

English, mostly. Certain parts of the ceremony will be translated in Mandarin.

How do I get around Kyoto?+

Kyoto is very easy to navigate by taxi, and all our venues are close to each other. Use Uber, Didi, or the GO Taxi app to get around during the celebrations.

Can I bring a plus-one?+

Plus-ones are noted on your invitation. If you're unsure, please reach out to us directly.

Is the GEAR show required?+

No — it's completely optional. We bought out the show, so if you'd like to join, please RSVP early as seats are limited.

Is the welcome cocktail event optional?+

Yes — but please come if you can. It's a soft, low-key way to meet everyone, and it's just downstairs from the GEAR theater.

Can children attend?+

Yes — children are welcome at all daytime events.

What about gifts?+

We're so grateful that so many of you are traveling all the way to Japan to celebrate with us. Your presence in Kyoto is truly the greatest gift — please don't feel any pressure to prepare anything extra. We won't be having a registry, and we kindly ask for no physical gifts — we know how precious luggage space is when traveling. For those who were asking, we'll have a box available at the reception for any cards or red envelopes, but truly, your presence is more than enough ❤️

Have you booked your flights and hotel yet?+

We know many of you have already booked — thank you, we're so excited! If you haven't yet, now's a great time to lock in prices while availability is still good. There are plenty of hotel options around Ace Hotel Kyoto at different price points. You don't need to stay at Ace — we do have a discounted rate there, but please choose whatever works best for you. See the Travel page for our planner's recommended list. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the WhatsApp group or message us directly.

Where can I ask other questions?+

We've created a WhatsApp Community for all wedding guests — the easiest place to get updates, ask questions, and coordinate during the Kyoto celebrations. Join here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/HNYj1ZIFA9g78hBfkpoqyF?mode=gi_t
